The Eyes of History
There have been a few different uses for this term:
1 – to refer to how someone or something will be viewed in history. “The eyes of history are upon us”
2 – to refer to the foundations used for studying history. “The eyes of history are geography and chronology”
3 –
Working towards a definition. The eyes of history are the means which we use to study history.
The Eyes of History Contests
“The Eyes of History contests are held annually to select the best in visual journalism across still, video, and multimedia disciplines. We also have an Eyes of History contest division exclusively for students, showcasing the work of the next generation of WHNPA members.”
They have four different types of annual contests.
Since 2002: Video Photography & Editing
Since 2008: Student Still & Video Photography
Since 2008: Digital Storytelling
Since 2013: Still Photography

The Eyes of History (Didi-Huberman)
“Didi-Huberman shows that Brecht took positions without taking sides; he used these montages to challenge the viewpoints of the press and propose other readings, to offer a stylistic and political response to the inescapable visibility of historical events enabled by the photographic medium. Brecht’s montages disrupt and scrutinize this visibility by juxtaposing representations of war found in magazines with his own epigrams—a “documentary lyricism” that dismounts and remounts modern history.”

The Eye of History Quest (Wizard101)
KingsIsle Entertainment released Wizard101, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) on September 2nd, 2008. By November 2014, about 50 million accounts had been created.
It has a quest titled “The Eye of History” where you have to hunt down the lost eye of history.
