Theophilus of Antioch

Theophilus of Antioch (d.183-185) [1]. The earliest studies on him were conducted in the 19th century (Harnack 1883 & Otto 1859) [3].

“The only extent manuscript of Theophilus which possesses independent value is Cod. Marcianus gr. 496 (f. 160v-185r), copied in the late tenth or early eleventh century, in a hand which Gardthausen calls the “middle minuscule”. A note in the hand of Cardinal Bessarion reveals that the manuscript belonged to him.” – Robert M. Grant [2, p151]
