The Writings of Claudius Ptolemy

The earliest date attributed to surviving texts is indicated in parentheses which follow the name of the writing. The location and date of the first printed edition follow after that.

The works of Claudius Ptolemy (2nd c. AD) are as follows:

1 – Almagest (sometimes 8th-9th, othertimes 11th-12th). Venice, 1515.

2 – Geographia (late 13th c. AD). Bologna, 1477.

3 – Tetrabiblos

4 – Harmonics

5 – Optics. 1885.

6 – Planetary Hypotheses

7 – Planisphaerium

*8 – Centiloquium

*This one is sometimes attributed to Pseudo-Ptolemy.
