The Eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 991 AD

The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 991 AD was reported as having an “Earthquake and explosive eruption (“…erupting flames and vomiting ashes …”)”. [1] The eruption may be classified as a subplinian or violent strombolian eruption.
