Biography of Pier Francesco Giambullari

This article contains a concise biographical timeline for Pier Francesco Giambullari (1495-1555). He was one of the founders of the Florentine Academy.

1495 – He is born.

1527 – He has the canonry of the Basilica of San Lorenzo (Florence) and becomes custodian and librarian of the Laurentian Library.

1540 – He becomes one of the founders of the Florentine Academy.

1541-1548 – He writes Lessons.

1544 – He publishes Trattatello of the site, form and dimensions of Dante’s Inferno.

prior to 1551 – He publishes Il Gello.

1552 – He writes the first grammar of the Florentine language written by a Tuscan: De la lingua that is spoken and written in Florence.

1555 – He dies.
