Biography of Hieronymus Wolf

Hieronymus Wolf was a German historian and humanist. He is often remembered for introducing a system of Roman historiography that overtime became the standard for works in medieval Greek history.

1516 – He is born in Oettingen in Bayern, Germany

1537 – He becomes a secretary and librarian of the public library of Augsburg

1549 – His translation of Demosthenes is published by Oporinus

1551 – He becomes a secretary and librarian of Fugger Library

1551 – He publishes an edition of Isocrates

1580 – He dies at the age of 64
