List of Paleographers Born Before 1900

This article contains a list of scholars of paleography. Paleography is the study of ancient writing systems and the deciphering and dating of historical manuscripts. The study made significant progress in the 17th-18th centuries. Jean Mabillon (1632-1707) is often considered the “father of paleography”.
