I had another really busy week but did manage to finish another book. This one was Rodger and Lazaroff’s History’s Greatest Deceptions and Confidence Scams. It was similar to the one I finished in the previous week, in that it’s a compilation of deception episodes from throughout history, but it was way worse. I’m giving it 2 out of 5 stars. I didn’t care for the writing style at all. I’ll have more details in my review on it.
I think I’m going to knock out Frankfurt’s two books next. They’re short 100 page essays titled On Bullshit and On Truth. I need a break from the deception compilations. Then I’m planning on reading McCabe’s History’s Greatest Liars, which falls back into that compilation genre. After that I think I’ll try and tackle Schroeder’s trio of compilations.
I need to write reviews for the one I finished this week, Eric Chaline’s History’s Greatest Deceptions: And the People Who Planned Them, and for Levine’s Duped.
