My week’s have been busy and time seems to be getting shorter each day. Last week was no exception.
Reading
I managed to get through the final third of Jeremy Campbell’s “The Liar’s Tale: A History of Falsehood”. The book was less focused on historical deceptions and more focused on Western-centric philosophical approaches to truth and falsehood.
The first half had me somewhat entertained but I found the second half to be more boring. Maybe some graphs or timelines or artistic representations of the information would make it more engaging. It did strike me as quite thorough. The author appears to have put a lot of work into this book. I see myself returning to it again in the future for reference.
The next book I’ll be finishing is Timothy R. Levine’s “Duped: Truth-Default Theory and the Social Science of Lying and Deception”. I’ve read the first three chapters so far and it’s been a nice change of pace from the books I read over the summer.
The books I read this summer were not very good. On a 5 star rating scale, I’m giving one of the books 1 star, one of them 2 stars, and two of them 3 stars.

I’m planning on getting another review up after I publish this article and getting the rest up before the next journal entry. I have currently have 3 more to write.
Food Poisoning
Friday night and all day Saturday I was suffering from food poisoning and so this journal entry got delayed. I’m still feeling a bit off today but much better than yesterday.
The current plan is to publish my next journal entry on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
