"Seeking the Truth about Chronology Today"
Forgeries have existed since time immemorial. This article explores the multitude of reasons why people have forged.

There are many reasons which motivate a person to forge, here are some:
1 – To deceive[4, p.60]
2 – To gain[4, p.63]
For example: to gain money[1] or fame.[2]
3 – To prove a point[2]
4 – To fill a gap in a chain of evidence[2]
5 – To prove the antiquity of a family[2]
6 – To distort the views of allies or enemies[3]
7 – “punning”[4, p.60]
8 – possibly “self-mockery”[4, p.60]
9 – “to support or refute complex philosophical and religious doctrines.”[4, p.63]
