About Psalmistice

The about page for Psalmistice can be found here. This article contains more information about Psalmistice than what is found in that link.

Colin McKay had a blog prior to this one (which I cannot find as all the links to it on his website are broken), and I do not know when that one began or ended. I do know that it was called The Blissful Ignoramus.

Colin McKay reports that his current blog was going to have the name Mystic Biker, but after having a flash of inspiration, he titled it Mystic Motorcycling. He lives in New South Wales, Australia and has loved motorcycling since the age of 13. He says Psalmistice is intended to journal his journey in Silence, or even more-so his journey in awareness of Silence. He says that the word Psalmistice is a new word resulting from a moment of inspiration and also that it represents many things to him. He invites people along to find out more about it, I’m still not exactly sure what it means. Here he has what he calls a picture of Psalmistice.

At the end of his about page, there is a video which is about 15 minutes long. In this video is Colin’s 61 stanza poem from 2010 titled Returning. He mentions it in his Learning to fly post from May 29, 2014. Its inspiration rose out of Colin’s care for a friend who had declared that his choices in life were determined by the single criterion of following the passions.

The video is posted on Vimeo, and there Colin reports that this was his first poem. He also reports that the video background footage is of a White-Bellied Sea Eagle soaring over one of his favorite places for contemplation.

There is music which accompanies the poem.
The songs are:
00:00-2:02, Yann Tiersen’s La Noyee
2:03-4:17, Yann Tiersen’s Comptine d’un autre été, l’après-midi
4:18-8:08, Yann Tiersen’s Summer 78
8:09-11:30, Yann Tiersen’s Le Moulin
11:32-13:02, Yann Tiersen’s Le Banquet
13:03-15:03, Yann Tiersen’s La Noyee

His about page doesn’t say anything about when he started his blog. However, after I dug around on the blog, it looks to me like his first post was titled Listen and was published on November 11th, 2013. It is 4 minutes and 30 seconds long and shows what I believe to be Colin McKay riding the Harley that he got in October 2013. He has pictures of I think the same bike in his December 6th, 2013 post, “Good luck with your ministry“, as well as a story about his travels and interactions with other people.
