Robert Russell Newton

Robert Russell Newton (1918-1991) was an American physicist, astronomer, and historian of science. He is most commonly remembered for his works on Ptolemy being a fraud, and less commonly remembered for his works on the change of the rotation rate of the earth and historical observations of eclipses. He was the Supervisor of the Applied Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University.

Life

1918, July 7th: He was born in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, USA.[2]

1991, June 2nd: He died in Maryland, USA and was buried in Reeves Cemetery in McComb, Pike County, Mississippi, USA.[2]
