Biography of Giles of Viterbo

1512 – He delivers and bold and earnest discourse at the opening of the Fifth Lateran Council at the Lateran Palace.

1517 – He becomes a cardinal.

1523 – He receives the title of Latin Patriarch of Constantinople.

1524-1530 – He is the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem.

1527 – His library is destroyed by Emperor Charles’ forces.

1530 – He requests the transfer of his titular church to that of the Church of San Marcello al Corso.

1532 – He dies in Rome.
