Biography of Agnolo Ambrogini (Poliziano)

This article contains a concise biographical timeline for Poliziano (1454-1494). He was a close friend of Pico della Mirandola.

1454 – He is born in Montepulciano, Tuscany.

1464 – He begins his studies in Florence.

1467 – He begins circulating Latin letters.

1470 – He wins the title of homericus adulescens by translating books II-V of the Iliad into Latin hexameters.

1471 – He writes essays in Greek versification.

1472 – He publishes an edition of Catullus.

1475 – He begins writing La Giostra di Giuliano de Medici.

1479 – He leaves Florence and settles in Mantua.

1491 – He publishes Praelectio de dialectica.

1492 – He publishes Lamia. Praelectio in Priora Aristotelis Analytica.

1493 – He publishes Dialectica.

1494 – He dies.
