Biography of Anatoly Fomenko

This article contains a concise biographical timeline for Anatoly Fomenko (1945-present). He is a renowned mathematician as well as a controversial chronologist.

1945 – He is born in Donetsk, Ukraine.

1950 – His family and him move to Magadan, Russia.

1958 – His science-fiction story, The Mystery of the Milky Way, gets published in Pioneer Truth (no.104).

1959 – His family settles in Luhansk, Ukraine. and he begins attending Secondary School No. 26. Pioneer Truth publishes his Milky Way story again (no.1-2, 4-6).

1962-1967 – He attends Moscow State University and graduates in 1967.

1969 – He defends his thesis Classification of totally geodesic manifolds realizing nontrivial cycles in Riemannian homogeneous spaces. He begins working in the department of differential geometry in the Mechanics and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University.

1972 – He defends his doctoral thesis The decision of the multidimensional Plateau problems on Riemannian manifolds.

1973 – He begins his research for his New Chronology.

1974 – He is a laureate of the prize of the Moscow Mathematical Society.

1980 – He becomes a professor for the Department of Higher Geometry and Topology.

1987 – He is a laureate of a prize in mathematics of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

1990 – He is elected a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the Department of Mathematics.

1991 – He is elected a full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (RANS).

1992 – He becomes the head of the Department of Differential Geometry and Applications.

1993 – He is elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education.

1994 – He is elected a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

1996 – He is a laureate of the State Prize (in the field of mathematics) of the Russian Federation.

2009 – He is elected a full member of the ATN of the Russian Federation (Academy of Technological Sciences of the Russian Federation).
