Biography of Petr Nikiforovich Krekshin

Petr I Krekshin (1684-1763) was the personal secretary of Peter the Great. He wrote a book which criticized the Scaliger-Petavius model of chronology.

“Krekshin collected manuscripts dealing with Russian history of the tenth through 18th centuries; the historians V. N. Tatishchev, I. N. Boltin, and M. M. Shcherbatov used these manuscripts. In his lifetime his works circulated in manuscript form; they were first published after his death. In them Krekshin glorified Peter I in panegyric form.” The Great Soviet Encyclopedia (1979)
