Introduction
Hi, my name is Stephen and I’m the creator of Ctruth. Ctruth is the content I produce based on my exploration of the world of chronology. Chronology is the study of time and the study of the order of events in time.
My goal is to build a strong community of people who are interested in studying and developing the sciences and humanities.
Unlike English, there are other languages have a single word to refer to the sciences and humanities as a whole:
Danish: Widenskab
Dutch: Wetenschap
German: Wissenschaft
Italian: Scienza
Russian: Hayka
Rens Bod discussed this concept to a greater degree in this lecture:
“If history without chronology is dark and confused; chronology without history is dry and insipid.”
– Noah Webster (1828)[x]
“John Locke, in Some Thoughts Concerning Reading and Study, recommended chronology as the proper study for gentlemen wishing to improve their minds and understanding.”
– James William Johnson (1962)[p.124]
“Science is dependent on the accurate measurement of time.”
– Ken Mondschein, On Time (2020)[p.3]
Among the subjects of focus for Ctruth are: Area Studies, Chorography, Chronology, Diplomatics, Numismatics, Paleography, Sphragistics, Archeology, Epigraphy, Ethnography, Historiography, Philately, Philology, Anthropology, Cartography, Dendrochronology, Filigranology, Genealogy, Papyrology, Phaleristics, Toponymy, Archeography, Cliometrics, Codicology, Ice Core Dating, Narratology, Onomastics, Prosopography, Radiometric Dating, Vexillology, Fragmentology, Tephrochronology, Periodization, Heraldry, Etymology, Ontology, Epistemology, Bibliology, Science, History, Humanities, Humanity, Sciences, Psychology, and Philosophy.
Fascinating!I would like to know more about this….. thanks!

this topic. You know a whole lot its almost hard to argue with you (not that I really would want to…HaHa).
You definitely put a brand new spin on a topic which has been discussed for a long time.
Excellent stuff, just excellent!

Hi Stephen, good work on this site (it can be a bit hard to navigate sometimes, but it’s worth the effort) – you provide some really good reference material in the articles here. It’s so hard to find provenance of manuscripts, and this site has been helpful in so regard.
I have a bachelor in art history, so I ought to have some basic skills in the area of bibliography and finding source – and reference material, but somehow I fall short to find a working method it that field of enquiry. I can’t free myself from the suspicion that my failings is not all together on my part, but that there’s a lack in the material. It’s like you have to sign an article of faith, before you can enter into the gist of things – if you stop at the minor detail of “when was this actually written” your’e out of the game.
Maybe my shortcomings stem from the problem of entering a new field, that is, there’s another skill set involved in dating art historical objects compared to dating written texts, because a renaissance work dated to AD 1525 depicting – let’s say – the Madonna and child, you can’t say this painting is not the original work, but a copy of a copy of a copy of a fresco – and therefore this work is “actual” a fresco dated to AD 1125. No. It’s still a renaissance painting from AD 1525.

Hi Per Erik, thank you for the kind words and for sharing some of your thoughts and experiences. I’m glad my website can be of use.
There appears to be a typo/error in the second part of the first sentence of the second paragraph, so I’m not entirely sure what you were communicating there.
For the third paragraph, what is the new field you’re talking about entering? I do agree that there are differences in methodology between dating art works and dating textual records

Sorry for my rambling in the second paragraph! I’m norwegian so my english becomes norweglish… I was letting out some steam and frustration, and didn’t think too much about the fact that somebody actually had to read my ramblings 🙂 -I can hardly make sense of it myself when reading through the paragraph now. The “new field” for me is that I’m trying to do some regular history work, that is: without the “art” in art history. I’m writing a piece about my hometowns Cathedral.

Can you comment on the New Chronology as it relates to Tartaria, architecture and Putin taking Ukraine? Thanks for your timely work! : )

I know he mentions Tartary but it’s been so long since my initial read through that I don’t remember any of the specifics
